The PMS2020 Startup of the Year Award is back for a second edition focused on “Mobility in a Changing World”. This is the starting point for Startup Portugal and the Global Media Group (GMG) to challenge Portuguese entrepreneurs in finding innovative concepts and solutions for urban mobility focused on sustainability.
New products or services, or new applications of already existing products or services, can no apply to the PMS2020 Startup of the Year Award. Although there is no limitation on the themes, the jury will specifically pay attention to propositions that tackle electric, intelligent and sustainable mobility, micro mobility, urban planning and mobility as a service (MaaS).
Autonomous vehicles, smart cities, 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) are other areas equally privileged, as well as energetic and digital transition and finally, the development of digital tools for logistic management.
The main goal is to support entrepreneurs who develop projects with high growth potential, contributing, directly or indirectly, to boosting sustainable mobility.
Candidates can be Juridical persons constituted less than 10 years ago, and application, open until the 31 st of August, is free of charge. Those interested should check the award regulations and fill in the application form. Applicants must also include a CV or the candidate’s biography and attach a presentation of the project in video format, with a duration no longer than 3 minutes.
The jury, composed by a member of Startup Portugal and other six members, representatives of GMG, EDP, Brisa, CEiiA, Volkswagen and Cascais Town Hall will select the best 10 projects by September 15. The 10 selected projects will be presented at the “Minuto TSF – Startup do Ano PMS2020” radio program of TSF.
The projects will also be exhibited at Nova SBE in Carcavelos during the Portugal Mobi Summit 2020 that will take place between the 8th and 9th of October. Where selected projects will also have the chance to present their products or services at the PMS2020 stage.
The winner of the PMS2020 Startup of the Year initiative will be announced during a public ceremony that will take place during the Portugal Mobi Summit 2020. The winner will be awarded a monetary grant of five thousand euros, given by the Global Media Group destined exclusively to the development of the project.
The winner will also be invited to join the EDP Starter Community, a community of more than 200 startups, with access to exclusive initiatives such as conferences, talks, sharing opportunities, partnerships and other experiences.
In 2019 the PMS Startup of the Year was awarded to Evora based Fuelsave, a company that developed a platform that turn energetic consumption and goods transportation truck courses more efficient.
